Fiji Ports to implement control measures for local wharf

October 24, 2017 6:03 pm

The Fiji Ports Corporation Limited has enforced measures in its continuous effort to mitigate congestion, improve efficiencies and uphold safety at our port of entries.

Chief executive, Vajira Piasena, says the Corporation will now closely monitor the entrance into Narain Jetty.

“There is a lot of congestion in the loading area and people are vulnerable to accidents due to this. In order to avoid incidents and improve efficiencies in loading and offloading of cargoes and passengers, these measures are introduced”

Piasena says no vehicle is allowed into the wharf area one and half hours before departure and the public are encouraged to closely liaise with security and ship officers on duty.

The Corporation has also urged truck drivers and those that drive company vehicles not to park within the wharf area for more than three hours.

These measures will come into effect next week.
