Fiji shared its position on the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at a symposium in Incheon, Korea yesterday.
The Fijian Delegation was led by Meleti Bainimarama in his capacity as the Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development, National Disaster Management and Meteorological Services.
While delivering his address, Bainimarama highlighted initiatives undertaken by the Fijian Government that are aligned to the SDGs.
This includes the National Development Plan, Green Climate Funded Projects, the Environment and Climate Adaptation Levy and the Oceans Pathway Partnership.
He adds that Fiji is in the process of compiling its Voluntary National Review of the SDGs and hopes to have present it at the high level political forum in New York next year.
This VNR will show the great progress in the provision of services in many sectors including education, health and infrastructure to name a few.
The forum will end today.
