February 13, 2018 5:09 am

The Fiji Navy is on standby for the next 24 hours as Tropical Cyclone Gita slowly moves away from the Fiji group.

Navy Commander, Humphrey Tawake has confirmed they’re monitoring the cyclone and will provide assistance if the need arises.

“We are fortunate to have contacted most of the fishing vessel companies and some other vessels. Most of them have moved north as shown on the screen so that is the proactive start that we have taken and as well and also on a standby if there is any assistance required.”
