The Fiji Navy has sent recommendations to Police and the Maritime Safety Authority over their concern over a possible oil spill from the ill-fated cargo barge Kaiwai.
The Kaiwai had 40 tonnes of 200 litre diesel drums on-board when it capsized Tuesday early morning east of Bukama Island in the Yasawas.
Yesterday, the Navy suspended its aerial search for the missing man lost in the tragic accident, however the coastal search with Police assisted by Logana and Dalomo villagers continues.
The fatal accident has claimed the lives of two men, a Korean national and Fijian.
The missing Korean national is feared dead after reports he was asleep in his truck at the time the incident occurred.
Police and MSAF continue to investigate what led to the tragedy.
