November 28, 2015 9:37 pm

In an effort to educate people especially the younger generation about our history, the government is now making all heritage sites around the country accessible to Fijians.

Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says our in identity is defined by our heritage.

Speaking at the 60th anniversary of the Fiji Museum building Dr Reddy said apart from the traditional open days, people will now also be able to see the museum via the digital technology.

“That particular project is in the process and maybe in another 4 months time we will be able to upload the digital documentation and explanation of every artifact that we have in the museum and anyone wherever they are can log onto our museum home-page and go to that particular icon and watch the museum from the comfort of their home.”

The Museum open day will be held on the last Saturday of every month… with a particular theme and the displays and activities will match the theme of that month.

A fire walking ceremony will also be held during each open day.
