Fiji Museum Open Day

The Fiji Museum opened its doors to the public today to allow people to learn about the country’s heritage, culture and arts.

Director Adi Mere Ratunabuabua says this month the Museum is focusing on some of the first missionaries to visit Fiji during colonial times.

“It’s about the impact of the missionaries and what they have done in Fiji so we have demonstration from the National archives we’ve actually got some records from there on the different churches that are in Fiji and also the stories of their missionary in Fiji and we’ve also got traditional food cooked in bamboo and also the crafts people the living human treasure are demonstrating.”

Adi Mere is urging members of the public to be part of the event and learn Fiji’s history.

The Open Day ends at 2:30 this afternoon.
