Fiji moves towards a cashless economy

Fijians will be able to use their debit and credit cards for all types of payments without having to pay any fees for the swipe.

The government has announced the removal of all EFTPOS fees in the new budget
Economy Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is another positive step towards making Fiji a cashless economy.

“In digital era no Fijians should think twice about the cost of swiping their debit or credit card. You can now carry less cash we can make payments more quickly and we can all benefit from more efficiency and accountability with shops and businesses.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says this new initiative will make electronic transactions easier and more affordable for Fijians and businesses.
