World Consumer Rights Day is being marked today with the theme “Trusted Smart Products”.
The Consumer Council says smart technology is a growing phenomenon which is fundamentally changing the nature of many consumer products and services.
Over the past decade, consumer uptake of smart products have increased dramatically, with the smart products now outnumbering people three to one.
The Consumer watchdog believes while smart products bring many opportunities, there are also concerns about information and data safety, security, privacy, protection and transparency.
To mark this occasion, the Consumer Council is holding an oratory contest for Suva secondary schools, on the topic, “How safe is your information with your Smart Products”.
