The Pacific Island countries including Fiji, today marks the 70th anniversary of the United Nations.
To mark this day, the United Nations staff members donated their time at a Juvenile Centre today, helping with cleaning and gardening.
A new photo gallery is also being launched in cooperation with the Fiji National Archives celebrating the UN’s long involvement in the country.
United Nations Resident Coordinator in Fiji, Osnat Lubrani says the UN Day is an opportunity to reflect on the development gains made in the Pacific over the decades.
Lubrani says he looks forward to strengthen the relationship between UN and the Pacific Island countries as work is underway towards the seventeen new Sustainable Development Goals over the next 15 years.
