Fiji marks its 47th year of independence today

Fiji will be marking its 47th year of independence with major celebrations at Prince Charles Park in Nadi and Vunidawa District School in Naitasiri today.

President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote will be officiating the celebration in the Western Division while Assistant Minister for Rural and Maritime Development Joeli Cawaki will be in Naitasiri.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa, says Fiji’s independence came about because there was a quest for freedom, justice and unity amongst its leaders and citizens to determine our future.

The Nadi celebration will be aired on FBC TV from 11:30am.
