Fiji man dies in San Francisco Police custody

A Fiji man has died in the custody of San Francisco Police after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 96 year-old man and two female police officers.

57-year-old Filimoni Raiyawa, experienced a medical emergency and stopped breathing when he was arrested.

ABC’s 7 News reports, that Raiyawa allegedly beat up a 96-year-old man who he was looking after and escaped in a light blue Honda car.

An alert was then sent out for Raiyawa by the San Francisco Police.

He was then allegedly involved in a car accident and then ran away from the scene.

A few blocks away two female officers tried to detain him, but he assaulted both of them.

Raiyawa then tried to get into a restaurant, but the restaurant manager refused to open the door.

He was then arrested by police when walking up the sidewalk.
