The Pacific region more than ever needs strong leadership from the World Trade Organization if the DOHA Development Agenda is to be achieved says Trade Minister Faiyaz Koya.

He says Fiji is hopeful for a more fruitful outcome during the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference.

“Fiji will continue to work with collaboration with other members to seek a meaningful outcome at the 12th ministerial conference a long impending decision on fisheries subsidies which is in line with the global commitments made in the 2030 Agenda for development is the least that should be achieved. We could do our own future a disservice if we do not seek a solid outcome on this.”

The Minister was speaking at the opening session of the four-day Regional Workshop on the Eleventh Ministerial Conference and Post Ministerial Conference.
