Fiji could soon be opening up a cannery in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
This was one of many topics that were up for discussion during the Trade and Investment Mission from the Republic of the Marshall Islands in Fiji recently.
Chief executive for the office of Commerce & Investment the Investment Promotion Authority of the Marshall Islands Ravuni Uluilakeba says they are working towards and many others.
“There are three or four cannery plants here in Fiji so one way or another we will look at the futuristic aspect of who we can work in partnership with.”
The pilot project, which might be done as a joint project with a company, is scheduled to begin in August or September in the Marshall Islands.
A total of 27 delegates held meetings with the Nadi and Lautoka Chamber of Commerce members and met in Suva last week to discuss ventures between interested companies, non-government organisations and government sectors in Fiji.
