Fiji is looking at new initiatives and measures that will encourage more local businesses to adopt green technologies and processes to promote “go green”.
Speaking at the Fiji Greenpreneurs two-day workshop yesterday, Ministry of Industry and Trade permanent secretary Shaheen Ali says this workshop provides them the opportunity to create more awareness on the Young Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES).
Ali says this also makes young Fijians more aware of the importance of sustainable development.
“In this regard the National Budget that was recently announced has continued on green environmental -related initiatives and at the same time introduced new and innovative initiatives, through policies, to focus on “green businesses.”
Ali says Government through YES is aiming to bring out innovative, fresh and new business ideas and products, which will grow Fiji in a sustainable manner.
Ps says YES will consider proposals and ideas from this workshop that provides sustainable business plans.
