Fiji lacks registered architects: Patel

November 9, 2014 6:03 pm

A renowned architect and the owner of architectural company Design Hut, Sanjay Patel says there aren’t too many registered architects in Fiji.

Patel has been in the industry for two decades and says there are only twenty architects practicing in Fiji.

He says one of the reasons for this could be the unavailability of a School of Architecture in Fiji.

Patel says architecture is purely done in universities abroad and he himself studied in Australia and New Zealand.

“So starting my own obviously, it was a challenge, but from where we started to now, the climb is more then what was ever predicted.”

Patel started up his business in 1999 and his firm today has a staff compliment of twenty one.
