Fiji as a Small Island Developing State from the Pacific is seen as an honest broker says Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Nazhat Shameem Khan.

Khan says this has set Fiji on the path of international leadership.

She stresses Fiji has no particular agenda other then what is good for its people.

The Ambassador says another reason why Fiji holds a leadership role on the international stage is because of its reputation of believing in multilateralism.

“We have taken a very long term view of developing the international leadership and so we are training diplomats in Fiji to prepare for leadership and I think that is very important.”

Khan says Fijian diplomats are tasked to intervene and make meaningful contributions during high-level international meetings, which gives recognition to our country.
