The Elections Office is in its final phase of registering students who’ve turned 18 or are about to.
This exercise is leading up to the 2018 General Elections.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says eighty-eight percent of schools have been covered and 5491 new voters have been registered.
’’We’ve seen some very enthusiastic and energetic youngsters, who have stepped forward to register, we have got some very positive feedback from them in terms of how they plan to use their EVR cards apart from voting, and one of the things that the Fiji Elections Office is doing in this registration program is that we are actually doing information sessions before we do the registration of voters’’.
This is the last week of the voter registration excise with 156 schools covered out of the 178.
