Fiji elected to UNFPA executive board

Fiji has been elected to the executive board of the United Nations development Programme and the United Nations Population Fund.

This was confirmed by the United Nations vice – chairman, Peter Thomson.

Thomson says Fiji will bring a Pacific Island perspective to its membership of both UNDP and UNFPA.

He says the Millennium Goals have yet to be fully achieved in the Pacific and the board membership will be used to meet the remaining challenges.
