Fiji Day celebrations are on track for this Thursday with the country to celebrate 49 years since independence.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defense Manasa Lesuma says the theme has been centered on a reflection of how far Fiji has come and how much further it is set to go.

“Well the theme is ‘A sustainable and progressive Fiji for all’. We thought that it would be a good theme basically for this year, noting how we’ve progressed in the last 49 years after Independence and this is very much a theme that government has taken on board with regards to the progress in terms of economic growth and how we would like to take Fiji forward.”
