The rape of children will always be a serious matter which the Court will not take lightly.
This was stressed by Suva High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo while sentencing a single mother of Nasinu who raped and sexually abused her daughter last year.
Justice Temo warned convicted child rapists not to complain when their liberty is taken away from them for the atonement of their crimes.
He adds the Court will not tolerate the abuse of children who are our future.
He says they will continue to pass harsh and longer sentences as a warning to would-be child rapists.
Justice Temo adds this will be done to protect the community from such perpetrators and to deter other would be child rapists.
He says this will also signify the court and the community denounce the rape of children.
