Fiji conveys condolences to Russia

Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Peter Thomson has conveyed Fiji’s deepest condolences to the Russian people and the families of the 224 passengers and crew killed in the civil aviation disaster over Sinai three days ago.

Metrojet Flight 9268 plunged to the ground Saturday, killing all 224 people on board.

A Book of Condolences was opened at the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations in New York, and Thomson conveyed Fiji’s message of sorrow and solidarity therein.

Islamic militants claim they brought down the Airbus A321-200.

However, last night Russian officials say technical failure is the most likely reason for the crash.
