It’s important that countries worldwide reduce their carbon footprint and Fiji is committed to lowering its emissions.

This was highlighted by Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum who says the country’s aim is to reduce its carbon emissions by thirty percent by 2030.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this will be possible by introducing more renewable energy.

“The idea is to get more renewable energy like solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy this is what we call renewable energy and the carbon footprint will be much lower. We can also contribute to the minister for transport. Through his ministry we’re looking at revamping the transportation sector so the lesser carbon emissions that come out, we produce less carbon and Fiji becomes a lot greener.”

He is also urging people to support Fiji’s COP23 Presidency which is being led by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in Germany.
