Fiji China relations continue to strengthen

The diplomatic ties between China and Fiji will continue to scale to greater heights.

This has been highlighted through the courtesy call this week paid by Qian Bo, China’s Ambassador to Fiji to the Minister for Defence, National Security, and Foreign Affairs, Inia Seruiratu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Suva.

Ambassador Qian congratulated Seruiratu on his appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and stated that China is committed to deepening its strategic engagement and friendship with Fiji.

He says through strengthened collaborations there is potential to boost opportunities for trade and investment exchanges in areas of tourism, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and cooperation in education, human resources, capacity building, and skills training, health, infrastructure developments.

Seruiratu noted that Fiji is committed to broadening collaborations with China as it will promote initiatives for the benefit of both countries.

Fiji and China have enjoyed cordial relations since the establishment of diplomatic collaborations in 1975.
