Fiji can now export fresh ginger after a lapse of 3 years

Fiji will now exporting fresh ginger to Australia after a lapse of three years.

This is after Biosecurity Authority of Fiji ensured that the fresh ginger exports sector will make a grand comeback.

BAF CEO, Hillary Kumwenda expressed his delight and commended the exporter and his officers in ensuring that all phytosanitary requirements for the initial all important consignments were adequately met.

Kumwenda says they deployed additional resources to make sure their officers as well as the exporter’s staff are familiarised with the fresh ginger export pathway requirements and the rigid inspection processes.

He says Sai Yee Foods Industries Ltd exported 1, 500 kilograms of fresh ginger in the first week of this month followed by 500 kilograms in the third week to benchmark an impressive 2 tons as part of the recommencement of Fijian fresh ginger exports to Australia.

The CEO adds that they will remain committed to contribute towards the Government’s agriculture development and safe-trade agenda.
