The Australian Federal Police’s Assistant Commissioner Scott Lee paid a courtesy call to Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho at the Fiji Police Headquarters this week.
The visit was an opportunity to follow up on issues discussed at the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police meeting held in Nauru this year, which centered on the importance of collaboration and cooperation with regards to transnational crime in the Pacific region.
Director International Relations SSP Ulaiasi Ravula says the meeting was a fruitful one with various areas of possible police to police opportunities explored.
Discussions were also centered around the way forward towards formalizing the draft framework on regional cooperation noting the long history between the Fiji Police Force and the Australian Federal Police.
Talks also touched on possible training opportunities and people to people exchange.
SSP Ravula says the Commissioner of Police is always looking to enhance leadership training for Fijian officers and it was also a part of the discussions.
