Fiji Airways stresses infrastructure needs

November 1, 2014 1:44 am

The lack of infrastructure developments at domestic airports and some in the
Pacific region is losing money for our national airline.

This was highlighted by Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Stefan Pichler during the Fiji Australia Business Council meeting held in Suva this morning.

_“If we had better airports with better infrastructure then we could grow and provide more capacity at a lower cost. It’s pretty stupid because we have people calling in and saying why is trip to Taveuni more expensive than a trip to Sydney and they are right. But with that we are still losing money.” _

Pichler says now that the elections are over; the airline is expecting these upgrades to the domestic airports and facilities to be made.
