Fiji Airways group appoints new Chairman and Director

Fiji Airways has announced changes to its Board of Directors following its Annual General Meeting, with the appointment of a new Chair and Director.

Rajesh Punja, Director of the Punjas Group of companies replaces current chair, Nalin Patel and Shaheen Ali, Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism takes over from Stefan Pichler as Director.

Three existing Board Directors will continue for another term. They are:
Retired executive Aslam Khan, Solicitor General Sharvada Sharma and,
Managing Director and CEO (MDCEO) Andre Viljoen.

The announcement was made by the Attorney General and Minister for Public Enterprise and Civil Aviation Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Sayed-Khaiyum says that with the addition of a new aircraft like the incoming A330-300 and new routes like Singapore from April, Fiji Airways will continue to grow.

He adds the revamped Board of Directors along with the shareholders will provide the airline’s management, all the support they need to ensure the airline provides returns to its shareholders, staff and the Fijian economy.

2016 will be an important year for the airline, marking its 65th Anniversary.
