People throughout the country are being warned to start preparing for Tropical Cyclone Winston as it approaches the Fiji group.

National Disaster Management Office Director Akapusi Tuifagalele says the public must start taking actions now and not wait until the last minute.

We’re now alerting the whole nation that TC Winston although it’s still on
Category 4 and it may get upgraded later on to category 5, the whole of Fiji needs to be alert and be ready. Preparations need to be done so nobody is caught off guard. At the moment in terms of evacuation centres we are liaising with Ministry of Education. As of the evening, the managers of various schools have been informed to be prepared-incase if there is a need as from tonight.

Tuifagalele says preparations must be done now to avoid any future accidents or even deaths.
