Fifer appointed as the new PS for Local government

Dimity Fifer has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Local Government.

Public Service Commission Chair Vishnu Mohan, made the announcement with the agreement of the Prime Minister.

Fifer is an experienced Chief Executive and board member who has worked extensively in social services, volunteering and women’s network development and Local Government.

She was a Local Government Commissioner in the City of Whitehorse Melbourne, a Commissioner for the Council for Aboriginal reconciliation and CEO of Victorian Council of Social Service.

She also led Australian Volunteers International for more than 12 years from 2002, and in 2015 established Pacific Women’s Network, which has over 150,000 members of which 36,000 are based in Fiji.
