The Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions and the Fiji Trades Union Congress have made a decision to merge.
This will mean all FICTU affiliates will rejoin the FTUC.
FTUC general secretary, Felix Anthony says a National Council meeting will be held on the 27th where all affiliates of FICTU will be welcomed back into FTUC.
Anthony says they seek to unite to ensure that they stand up for workers in Fiji with one voice and ensure that workers’ rights are fully respected
He says they will continue to strive for decent work and dignity at work.
He says the Congress records its appreciation to the executives of FICTU and particularly the efforts Attar Singh, the past Secretary of FICTU in the unity talks.
Attar Singh has resigned to contest the 2018 Elections under the National Federation Party banner.
