The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association is concerned with the gap of skilled workers in the hospitality sector.
President, Dixon Seeto says due to the lack of specified skills, expatriate staff are being hired to carry out the chores to meet international standards.
Seeto says the expatriate staff are training locals to take up their jobs in the future.
“One of the aims of the industry and government is human resource development. Therefore, we do have a lot more people coming on board to take up some of these top positions."
Seeto says more emphasis need to be put on human resource development.
