February 18, 2018 4:34 am

The Elections Office will conduct training for police officers around the country to ensure they know their duties, roles and responsibilities during the election.

Training has begun for officers in the North earlier this month while other divisions are expected to undergo elections training soon.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says these trainings will be made compulsory.

“That will involve all the divisions. Everybody has to go through that training. We cannot afford to have fingers pointed at Fiji Police if we don’t deliver the service that’s required for us to deliver. At the end of the day we want everyone to exercise their political rights in voting.”

Police officers will go through election training to prepare them for what’s to come in this year’s General Election.
