In an effort to continue the push for more democracy and transparency, the Fijiian Elections Office has signed a MOU with International IDEA Orgarnisation.

While signing the MOU today, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says the partnership will go a long way in the development of the Fijian Elections Office.

Saneem says International IDEA has also assist Fiji in the development of candidate’s handbook and the MOU will further enhance the collaboration of the Fijian Elections Office and the International IDEA orgarnisation.

“In fact our actual endeavour is for Fiji to be one of the signatory countries for the International IDEA Convention so that we are able to benefit from and participate in electoral democracy like the other countries who are already on that platform.”

The MOU is also expected to further develop election processes and procedures in Fiji.
