FEO releases guidelines for trade union elections

The Fijian Elections Office this afternoon has released the guidelines for Trade Union Elections.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says it’s responsible for the organisation and management of all trade union elections in Fiji.

He says they will follow the rules and guidelines set out for the impending elections.

“Saneem says the guidelines for the trade union elections has the following features: it requires the trade union secretariat to finalize and forward to the FEO, the total number of members entitles to vote, the secretariat to provide the number of members disqualified from voting. Under our guidelines members that have been disqualified will be given time to resolve their disqualification and be enrolled to vote.”

The final list of voters will be ready at least four weeks before Election Day.

The FEO will also manage the nomination processes as well.

Saneem adds the election date will be finalised and determined by the trade unions.
