FEO officials warned not to be influenced by social media

The Fijian Elections Office has warned presiding officers not to get influenced by external factors whilst conducting their task.

Elections Supervisor, Mohammed Saneem reminded the officials not to change the order of the events just because they may have accessed social media and found that someone is questioning the process.

Saneem says the processes of the Presiding Officers Manual is not to be invented or improvised to suit their own liking.

“Actually you may find several individuals who may want to create false rumours and unsubstantiated claims just to earn sympathy and maybe even some votes. It is my and the FEO Communications team’s responsibility to deal with Public Relations matters.”

Saneem adds there will be polling agents and observers that will be trained to check that all procedures are followed.
