“And I have seen that this JP is promoting that every Fijian should take a camera to every polling station, take the photograph of the ballot paper after they have voted, I would like to inform him that he has breached his appointment as a Justice of Peace.”

Saneem says anyone caught taking photographs of their ballot paper during the election, will be taken to task.

“In the event if someone does this and apprehended by the presiding officer, apart from the criminal liabilities that they might face on the electoral offences, the person ballot paper will not be allowed to be placed inside the ballot box."

The SOE adds the public should be cautious of such individuals and the Fijian Elections Office should be contacted if there is a need for clarifications.
