“With this GIS applications Fijians will be able to locate polling venues all over Fiji at their own convenience. They will also be able to identify venues that may be even closer to their residence in comparison with where they had voted in 2014. The electoral commission endorses the effort by the FEO to investigate, assess and customize the technologies that enhance the quality and delivery of elections and rapidly improve voter confidence in the electoral process.”

The polling venue locator application can be accessed through the Fijian Elections Office website on www.electionsfiji.gov.fj.

This is Fiji’s first attempt to map GPS coordinates of schools and other major centres which will be used by the public for electoral purposes.
