The Fijian Elections Office has stopped effective immediately any changes to voter details in the Western Division.

Supervisor of Elections – Mohammed Saneem explains that this is in response to reports of unscrupulous behaviour in relation to governments Cyclone Assistance Recovery Efforts otherwise known as the CARE initiative.

“In the Western Division there is currently a freeze on amendment of details just to make sure the information contained on the card is not amended for the purposes of Homes initiative or any other initiative that’s been rolled out. We do not want cases where fraudulent information is provided to the FEO for the purposes of fraudulently obtaining assistance under any of the initiatives.”
