The Fijian Elections Office is encouraging students to apply for the Election Visitor Program.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says they are not restricting the program to voters’ only but also those that may be voting in the next election.
“The 14th November falls just outside the school term and as such students may be interested to participate in it. There is also an opportunity for Fijians to learn about the transparency and the accountability of the electoral system that we have in Fiji.”
Saneem says only 5 spots are available.
He adds that those successful will visit polling venue on Election Day, be at the polling station, the count and the result centres.
Anyone can participate, however they must send their expression of interest to the FEO office via their website before the 2nd of November.
There are no particular requirements except that the applicants will have to state why they wish to participate in the program and what they hope to learn from it.
