FEO driver remains admitted in hospital

The driver of the van carrying the Fijian Elections Office pre-poll team that was scheduled for Udu Point, Vanua Levu is still admitted in hospital.

The vehicle was on its way to a pre-polling venue yesterday with three election officials and one police officer when it got involved in a road accident.

The officials and police officer have been treated for minor injuries and sent back to the polling stations.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says the ballot materials have been transported to a safe location and is under the watchful eyes of the police while their staff were referred to the nearest health centre to receive medical attention.

He adds that the Police, ambulance and fire officials were dispatched to the location following the accident.

The SOE has urged all FEO drivers to be vigilant and ensure the safety of the pre-poll officials and ballot materials as pre-polling begins tomorrow.
