December 1, 2015 10:16 pm

Customer data from the Fiji Electricity Authority will now be shared with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority.

Not only is the measure to ensure better tax compliance but it’s also expected to keep the agency records up to date.

FRCA outgoing CEO Jitoko Tikolevu says this newly signed agreement has been in the pipeline for some time.

“As you know FEA has a lot of useful data as far as compliance is concerned, individuals, residences, corporate entities, there’s a wealth of information and some of the data with us is outdated perhaps with the exact details of tax payers.”

FEA CEO Hasmukh Patel says the agreement is timely given the increased electricity subsidy for households which have an income of less than 30 thousand dollars.

The 2 CEOs signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing the agreement this morning.
