The Fiji Electricity Authority is looking at other means to increase revenue in the future.
Board Chair, Dakshesh Patel, says this is to allow the business of FEA to grow sustainably which will lead to employment opportunities.
Patel says they have taken into account some in the renewable energy sector.
“Expansion into the renewable energy sector will increase capacity – where we will be looking at renewable energy as a source of energy generation.”
Patel says they have decided to venture into this sector to also join in the fight against climate change.
FEA announced a performance pay of $1.48 million for a total of seven hundred and seventy-seven staff yesterday.
Public Enterprise Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says the performance pay is a reflection of hard work by the FEA staff.
