FEA power poles damaged by cane fires

Uncontrolled cane fires have caused damage to wooden power poles and the Fiji Electricity Authority is urging the public to take precautionary measures when lighting fires.

Acting CEO, Bobby Naimawi says people should refrain from burning cane and rubbish near FEA poles.

The authority says apart from being dangerous and life threatening, such fires cause unwanted power interruptions to our valued customers.

Naimawi says anyone causing damage to the power poles as a result of burning cane or rubbish will be charged according to the law.
