Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Francis Kean says they will investigate the recent escapee case of Tevita Qaqanivalu.

Qaqanivalu escaped from the Naboro Minimum Prison complex early Thursday morning and was recaptured yesterday in Vugalei, Lami.

Qaqanivalu’s case precedes several others that the FCS has been challenged with albeit successful recaptures were made.

“We are thankful to the team that have successfully recaptured the escapee who left our care yesterday, investigations are still continuing, once we see the outcome, the findings of these investigations, we’ll ensure that we’ll try and implement strategies to cover the gaps that led to the escape.”

Commissioner Kean says they will reassess their security measures for serving inmates.
