The Fiji Cancer Society plans to increase its services in the northern and western divisions.

The Society’s CEO Belinda Chan says their support services continue throughout the year, however, more attention is needed in these divisions as well.

Chan says October is a special month for them to raise sufficient funds to cater to the medical and transportation expenses of over 368 patients who are registered with them.

“But with this, we want to ensure that we are able to increase the capacity of our service provision to the West and to the North. So this will only be done through partnerships with the Ministry of Health and in the West with our support group in the West and hopefully establish a support group in the north to assist us with this”.

Chan adds the society has been receiving monetary assistance from various stakeholders and is optimistic about receiving more in the future.
