Fiji Council of Social Services president says the deliberations at the high-level Asian Development Meeting have been effective.

With CSOs well represented along with more than 2, 300 delegates in attendance, it was an opportunity to network, learn from one of the 83 countries represented and importantly strengthen partnerships with the government.

“We hope that we could come to amicable solutions how we can go into partnership and merge together, on top of that we have to align ourselves with the government policy so that we can have access to them.”

Sitiveni Turaganibure says it was also an opportunity to work with the government in the compilation of their report on Fiji’s progress of the Sustainable Development Goals.

This week in New York, the United Nations is holding its high-level political forum on the progress of SDGs which is attended by FCOSS.

Meanwhile, the ADB held its annual meeting of the board of governors last week in Nadi.

Fiji became the first Pacific member country of the ADB to host the high-level event which was also the biggest international gathering to be held here.
