FCCC warns businesses of misleading advertisement

February 9, 2018 1:11 am

Business houses and service providers have been warned to comply with the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission Act 2010 and promote fair trading practices.

The Commission through its daily surveillance on advertisements in the media and in-stores has noted that certain sales and promotions had misleading elements.

Chief Executive, Joel Abraham, says as a proactive measure, they are giving out notice to the businesses and service providers to comply as failure to do so may result in strict enforcement action.

Abraham says most of the advertisements portray they are a ‘deal not to be missed’, however, in many instances, this is not the case.

He says the Commission will continue to monitor the advertisements published in the media and in-stores.
