The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is beefing up its operations in the lead-up to Diwali.
Acting Chief Executive Seymour Singh says this is to ensure consumers buy safe products this Diwali.
“Our staff are currently on the ground for inspection of supermarkets on goods that are normally bought during this festive season and for consumers if there be any issues to contact us immediately.”
Singh says the Commission has deployed 80 percent of its staff to undertake inspections in shops around the country.
Meanwhile, the Consumer Council of Fiji has received fifty one complaints last month relating to Diwali shopping.
