FBOA airs frustration, meeting waste of time

The Fiji Bus Operators Association has aired their concern with the progress of the bus fare review.
FBOA President Richard Lal in a statement released last night claims that prior to the meeting last week, there was no request for 2018 financials and that the agenda noted industry pricing review, methodology and calculation variables.
In addition, the vast majority of operators Lal says had already complied with a request in December for 2017 accounts and after the meeting are content to comply with the submission of 2018 accounts.
The FBOA President says the meeting last week was a waste of time for them and their 48 operators who showed up thinking the bus fare review would be discussed.
He says, if there was a need for more financial records, the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission should have emailed them instead.
Lal has also hit out at the chairman of the review committee and CEO for FCCC, Joel Abraham saying that at no point did the operators mention a strike and it was wrong of him to make reference to it to the media.
The FBOA, Lal says only pointed out that with the way things are going, some bus companies would not be able to continue operating.
The President adding that bus companies have carried the public at the same fares for 10 years and will not take any action except by due process.
