Fiji Broadcasting Corporation received one of four awards from the European Union (EU) last night at an event to mark the end of the European Year for Development 2015.
The year has been a special one for the EU as it was an opportunity to showcase Europe’s commitment to eradicating poverty worldwide.
Each month of the year had a thematic focus on specific areas such as health, women and girls, peace and security, education, children and youth, sustainable growth, climate change and human rights – amongst others.
At the start of the year a competition was also launched to see which media covered EU stories and events accurately, consistently, and was creative in the way they presented the information.
Other winners included Fiji Times, Fiji Sun and Fiji Television Ltd.
As part of their prize for winning the award, one journalist from each organisation will get the chance to travel to Brussels, Belgium next year.
